The Freedom Compass solves this by asking two critical questions: What are you passionate about? And what are you proficient at? When these overlap and line up with your priorities—the things that advance your goals—you find yourself in what I call the Desire Zone.
Work in the Desire Zone is not just enjoyable—it’s deeply productive. This is where you create your highest value. It’s about getting off autopilot.
In this stage, I guide you to take a full audit of your time, habits, and commitments. Pay attention to the creeping accumulation of tasks that seemed urgent once but no longer align with your purpose. Often, our calendars reflect other people’s priorities instead of our own. Without stopping to assess, we end up reacting instead of creating.
Stopping also involves mental and physical rest—the foundation for clarity. When we live fatigued, we lose perspective, and distraction thrives. By pausing regularly, whether through reflection, journaling, or simply stepping away from your devices, you reconnect with your core priorities. Clarity isn’t found in constant doing; it emerges in stillness.
When you stop, you begin to discern which efforts are truly contributing to your desired outcomes. That awareness sets the stage for what comes next: cutting away the unnecessary so you can focus on the essential.
