They practiced mental discipline: they stopped replaying their misfortunes and began thinking of successes, hopes, and opportunities.

Thought control is not a mystical act; it’s a habit. Start by recognizing that worry thrives on idle imagination. When your mind wanders into fears of tomorrow, gently bring it back to today. Ask yourself: is this problem something I can act on now? If not, refuse to give it rent-free space in your head. Replace it with a useful, constructive thought. Every time you do, you reassert mastery over your mind, and that brings peace.

In every workplace, you encounter people and situations that test your patience. The secret is to train yourself to focus on what you can influence—in yourself and in your immediate tasks. Before speaking or reacting, pause and examine your thoughts. Are they fair? Are they kind? Are they useful? With practice, you cultivate an inner environment where happiness can grow, regardless of outer circumstances.

Worry is a thief—it steals time, energy, and joy. I have seen talented people paralyzed by fear of failure or judgment. But worry rarely changes outcomes; it only weakens our power to face them. In this book, I teach a simple way to dissolve worry: live in day-tight compartments. Forget the past with its regrets, close the door on the future with its uncertainties, and focus entirely on what can be done now.

When you immerse yourself in your present task, your mind has no room for anxious speculation. The world becomes manageable again. Many of my students found relief by writing down their worries, analyzing them, and then acting decisively. Action is the antidote to anxiety. Once you begin doing something constructive, worry loses its grip.

Remember, too, that most worries never come to pass. Studies and anecdotes reveal that the majority of feared outcomes either never happen or aren’t as bad as imagined. So why spend precious waking hours preparing for disasters that may never arrive? By learning to keep your mental attention where your hands are working, you regain freedom from the burden of imagined trouble.
