Key Chapters

Every believer is called—that’s the heartbeat of the gospel. I often tell people that calling isn’t about geography; it’s about obedience. We've misunderstood the word as something reserved for ministers or missionaries, but the Bible reveals that God’s call is universal. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. That means every follower of Christ has been entrusted with purpose, shaped for impact before we ever drew our first breath.

When I began my ministry, I struggled with the concept of calling. Was God asking me to do something extraordinary? Was I missing it? Over time, I learned that calling is less about what we do and more about who we are becoming. God calls us into relationship before He calls us into activity. He transforms our hearts so that our actions reflect His character. Only then does the mission take form—teaching, serving, leading, parenting, creating—all become acts of worship when motivated by His love.

Understanding calling sets the foundation for difference-making. It redefines success as faithfulness. It reminds us that God doesn’t measure our worth by results, but by response. Your calling may appear small or hidden—helping a child learn, encouraging a co-worker, caring for a neighbor—but in God’s kingdom, nothing done in His name is insignificant.

When believers grasp this truth, the ordinary becomes sacred. You begin to recognize divine opportunities woven into your daily rhythm. You stop asking, "Am I qualified?" and start asking, "Am I available?" That shift opens up a life of partnership with God, where His power turns simple acts into eternal impact. The world changes not because of professionals, but because of called people acting out of conviction. That’s the essence of living a life of purpose.

Before any difference can be made, we must first know who we are. I’ve seen many Christians try to serve without first anchoring themselves in the truth of their identity. They end up running dry. Identity in Christ is not just theology—it’s the steady foundation for everything we do. You are not defined by your past, your performance, or people’s opinions. You are defined by Christ’s love and His finished work on the cross.

Scripture says that if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. That means our identity is no longer wrapped in comparison or fear. As long as we derive our sense of worth from the world, our impact will fluctuate with life’s circumstances. But when our confidence rests in Jesus’ unchanging grace, we serve from overflow, not exhaustion. Knowing who you are changes how you see others. It frees you to celebrate, not compete; to give, not grasp; to love, not fear.

Throughout ministry, I’ve watched countless people reclaim their purpose simply by embracing who they already are in Christ—beloved, chosen, redeemed, equipped. Once you realize that God believes in you more than you believe in yourself, you start living boldly. You stop waiting for validation and start walking in vocation. True difference begins not when you try to prove your worth, but when you realize you already have it in Him.
